English World Lit
Working together using this wiki
Think of this wiki as a shared online whiteboard. Your entire group can share information using this wiki, making your research accessible to everyone. Play around with this wiki: Notice how you can add comments to a page, see what people have changed, and edit all the text.
Part One: Independent Reading Study
Everyone needs to select an outside reading book concentrating on literature from either an English or World author. You will meet three times in class (Wednesdays) and conduct a small book group conversation each time with questions I have provided for you. Please don't confine yourself to these questions. Come with your own questions, observations, and insights.
At the end of this unit, you will be responsible for presenting a creative representation of your novel. Make sure you adhere to the time limit as well as the requirements of the assignment. Remember these presentations are to be creative, interpretitive, and dynamic. Please see the handouts below for clarification.

Part Two: Wednesday Meetings and Wikis
Each group has been assigned their own wiki document to record questions, observations, connections, and anything else they find relevant to the understanding of their novel. Please be aware that this is an online document so others will be able to view the material you write, attach, and display on your page. Make sure to document your sources and use your initials to indicate the information you have supplied to your novel's page. I encourage you to "play around" with your page and make it as creative and captivating as it can be. The novel groups are as follows:
- Anna Karenina
- Crime and Punishment
- The Kite Runner
- Les Miserables
- The Misanthrope
- One Hundred Years of Solitude
- The Prince
- Steppenwolf
- The Trial
Your groups will meet on three consecutive Wednesdays in class. Please use your class time wisely, come prepared to ask questions, and to answer ones as well.
